hanging out in the saloon ∙ making grandiose claims
with the local denizenry ∙ man i barely know their names (i never even asked em)
we’re all just ambulating anthropoids with mouths that won’t stop flapping
bout our lofty goals and hopeless dreams ain’t never gonna happen

bet the barflies are cooler in Cheyenne
and everything will be better

i’m gonna go to astronaut school ∙ maybe fly to Mars
or Jupiter or Io or S/2003 J18 or somewhere in the stars
and everything will be better

i’m gonna build a biofuel race car out of mostly recycled materials
and break records in Mojave then learn that fame is ethereal
and everything will be better

i was interested in science and ecology
i was looking into anthropogeomorphology
or even biogeocoenology

but who has the time
so i’m stacking boxes at the five-and-dime
